2026 Summer Workshops: Make a Show with Shannan
Declared “a national treasure” by the CBC, Shannan Calcutt has played an eclectic range of venues worldwide, from Saskatoon’s Wash ‘n Slosh Pub to the Sydney Opera House. A multi-award-winning funny lady, she has spent the last twenty years making people laugh on the Vegas Strip in Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple, Zumanity, and Spiegelworld’s Atomic Saloon Show. One of the world’s leading educators in clown and play, she teaches regularly at Cirque du Soleil and the Clown School. She is profiled in the book Clowns: In Conversation with Modern Masters by Ezra Lebank and David Bridal. She’s the director of The Wizard of Oz Experience at Sphere, and has collaborated on multiple projects with Spiegelworld, “the world’s most audacious circus and nightlife company,” as the director of Superfrico (The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas), associate director of The Hook (Caesars Atlantic City), and resident director of The Atomic Saloon Show (The Venetian Resort Las Vegas). She has designed and directed comedy acts for Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity (New York-New York Hotel and Casino Las Vegas) and Friedrichstadt-Palast’s VIVID (Palast Berlin), Europe’s largest theatre stage.
